Waiting for Santa

As Bailey waited patiently for Santa to come visit on the Firetruck I decorated the Christmas Trees and baked cinnamon rolls.  I am shocked to say it was December 23rd and I was hanging ornaments…I normally do this right after Thanksgiving, but time has gotten away from me this year! Who knew 3 dogs and 2 college kids could throw off a girl’s schedule??!! It took 3 of us 3 days, but both Christmas Trees are decked out and every ornament is on display!  I love that the two legged embrace my crazy decorating standards!

The Four Legged love to see Santa on the Firetruck!  Our fire department goes above and beyond to support our neighborhood.  Riley and Bailey sat outside for about 3 hours waiting on the Big Guy’s arrival.  As the truck came up the hill Riley was ready to jump the gate if I didn’t get it open fast enough.  Santa brings cookies to each two legged and four legged and of course we all know how much Riley loves cookies!  Even with the sirens blaring and other neighborhood dogs barking Rufus really didn’t understand that Santa was on top of the firetruck until the truck got stuck on the cul de sac and had to back down the street.  Rufus wanted that truck!  He was dragging the two legged down the street. Perhaps next season their football team should put Rufus on the practice squad!  It was quite the workout getting back to the porch…

After enjoying Santa’s cookies and a quick dinner I was off to Christmas “Eve Eve” mass.  There is a church down the hill from us that lines their entrance and walkway with luminaries.  It is just stunning.  I decided I would celebrate the season at their church.  I have never been to a church that did not have a traditional alter, but I have to say this was my kind of church.  The parishioners had decorated every surface with Christmas gear.  The choir entered the service as if they were holiday carolers!  It was not what I was expecting for a Christmas Eve service, but I loved it!  I would have taken more photos, but I wasn’t sure how appropriate that would be. Plus people already knew who I was because my mom and I went early since we had never been there and we accidentally ended up in the volunteer meeting.  The gentleman in charge of the service asked which row I wanted to be an usher for.  The gig was up at that point as I told him I was happy to help, but I don’t belong to your parish!

This morning I was up early baking cookies and cinnamon rolls.  The recipe said to cut the cinnamon rolls into 12 equal rounds. As you can see from the picture I clearly nailed it! At least they will taste awesome…

Have a Merry Christmas Eve!
