I don’t think we could have asked for a better Halloween! I made it home just in time to light the candles in the pumpkins and serve dinner. For years we have made it a tradition to eat Chinese Food on Halloween. Riley is a huge fan of General Tso’s Chicken with just a dash of extra heat. I know what you are thinking…dogs can’t eat Chinese Food??!! I swear Riley has a human stomach and he does love spicy foods. As a puppy he was a chewer and destroyed multiple coffee and end tables. Reluctantly I took the advice of the vet and placed a small dab of hot sauce on the table. It was supposed to discourage his chewing. As he licked the table his face turned and he ran from the room. About 20 minutes later I walked into the family room and he was sucking on the table. He has loved spicy foods ever since! Thanks to the vet for that recommendation…
The Big Dogs enjoyed dog food and then headed to the family room to “watch” Hocus Pocus while Riley and I sat on the porch handing out candy. He loves the trick or treaters, but you have to keep your bag up or he will help himself to a treat! Several dogs also trick or treated this year and Riley tried to join them on the cul de sac. We had a record setting number of kids this year…about 25! Normally we have about 12 to 15. I was worried we would run out of candy. Bailey came outside for the last 30 minutes to help with the treats. I would let her help the whole night, but the younger kids tend to be afraid of their barking.
After the last trick or treater stopped by Grammie and Big Ed stopped by with treat bags for the Four Legged! Rufus has decided that Halloween is his new favorite holiday!
