Rufus is just starting to enjoy being outside even though he has to keep one eye on me! Rufus and Bailey were both “outdoor dogs” prior to moving here.  If the weather is decent Bailey loves to be on the porch.  It is covered and she can see most of the cul de sac and the hill behind us.  Rufus does not like to be outside.  Unless there is something to bark at he is in and out in 2 minutes.

In the past few weeks he has started to realize he likes being outside.  He is taking his time exploring and has even played in the grass a few times.  In true Rufus fashion it is just long enough for you to get into a project before he starts ramming the door and you have to stop to let him in.  He has this fear that you won’t let him back inside.  Even if everyone else is outback he wants to be in the house.

Last night he stayed outside a whole 8 minutes rolling in the grass!  And then he went in the backdoor and barked until someone let him upstairs.  Since he can’t focus he didn’t realize that no one was in the house so I had to stop trimming the hedges and go in the kitchen to let him upstairs from the basement.  He could have just walked up onto the porch, but what would be the fun in that! Oh Rufus!
