Dog Day

We heard a rumor that it was National Dog Day.  For Riley, Bailey, and Rufus that is pretty much every day at this house!  In honor of the “Big Day” we grilled hamburgers for dinner.  They had a very busy day so a picnic dinner was perfect.

8:00AM  Riley woke the house and made everyone get out of bed.  This was the first time in two months that we did not set an alarm and I think we would have slept a lot later if Riley hadn’t been up to feed the birds and start his day!

10:00AM Grammie popped over to visit and fed Rufus 2 huge bones!  While she was trying to give Bailey and Riley a bone Rufus had it convinced in his head that there was a treat on the counter and decided to explore!

2:30PM We picked up a donation for an upcoming charity yard sale and filled the porch with treasures.  All 3 dogs sorted through the donations and of course Rufus was off an running with a donation!  Bailey put her hound dog nose to good use and made sure nothing was left untouched.

4:00PM Our neighbors were cutting down a dead tree and in true four legged fashion all 3 dogs had to be outside in the action.  I convinced them to come and watch safely from the porch.  Just as I thought the chainsaw action was over Rufus took off over the hill to bark at the neighbors.  He is the only dog I know that is not afraid of chainsaw!

5:00PM Fired up the grill for dinner.  Rufus sits and cries as the food cooks.  Riley pounds his feet until you feed him.  Bailey (the perfect dog) just sits and waits.  While I was pulling the meat from the grill Rufus ate my bun.  Oh dear!

7:00PM Riley is sitting on the porch enjoying the summer weather.  The kids are riding their bikes so now he is running the length of the porch and yard chasing them.  I would say he is good for about another 3 minutes and then he will be upstairs on his brother’s bed (where he is not supposed to be) sound asleep!

Another Sunday in the Books!
