I hate to say I told you so, but I will! I tell each teenager that arrives at the house “don’t open the gate.” I feel like a broken record player, but Rufus is a sneaky runner and if he gets out that hound dog nose hits the ground running! On Monday night the two legged had friends over and I mentioned about not opening the gate again. I am pretty sure there was some eye rolling, but I know this dog so I just took him inside with me for safe keeping.
Last night I was at a work event when the phone rang. Never a good sign…I answered and the first words out of my two legged’s mouth were “We’re in Trouble.” My heart stopped and just as I was about to ask what was happening he said “Rufus is out.” I told you not to open the gate!
One of his friends opened the gate and out went Bailey and Rufus. They were able to grab Bailey pretty quickly, but Rufus was going for it. The two legged grabbed Rufus, but they couldn’t get him back onto the porch. Suddenly their BFF turned into King Kong and was going to explore the front yard one way or another. It took 4 teenagers to coax him back to safety. I don’t know how long they were in the driveway trying to get him back in the house, but I am guessing it had to be pretty bad to call me. Perhaps now we will remember not to open the gate…
Riley was the only one to remain on the porch apparently shaking his head at the shenanigans so he is now enjoying a donut on the couch as his reward for being the only behaved among the two and four legged last evening!
