A New Addition!

Welcome Home Chance!!  Don’t panic…we didn’t get another Four Legged, but our friend Jan and her family did!  I was at lunch earlier this week with Jan and she mentioned that her house has a void since their beloved dog passed away a few months ago.  While catching up I mentioned that Washington Area Humane Society always has a great group of dogs available for adoption.  How could you not want to bring home a Rufus?  Okay…so we won’t use him as the poster child for rescuing, but in reality if he can adapt to living among the Two Legged any dog can!

Within 24 hours of our lunch the shelter was on the phone asking for a reference.  I am pretty sure we are on speed dial there!  It never dawned on me when I saw the caller ID that Jan would have gone to the shelter so when I answered the phone I said “I can’t take anymore dogs.  I am already sleeping on the couch!” The shelter volunteer burst out laughing and then told me the reason for the call.

Jan has been sending me photos all day and Chance is loving his new home.  They are only on hour two, but so far so good!  People ask me all the time “How did you know that dog was the one?”  You just know!  When Jan saw Chance she knew he was meant to be a part of their family.  He was at the shelter for just over two months as a stray.  Today starts his new life!

I love sharing our stories with you, but the purpose of the blog and sharing our crazy life is to encourage rescuing.  Over two million dogs are put down each year in the US because of over population.  Before you call a breeder or go to a pet store stop by your local shelter.  There are amazing animals waiting for you!

Adopt!  Don’t Shop!
