It is impossible to throw dog toys away even when it is missing a squeaker or looks like it has been to war. Tonight I decided to clean out the toy bin and you would have thought I cut off one of their legs…Rufus is currently melting down on the bed while Riley and Bailey are sitting on toys that no one has touched in 6 months. I live with 3 little hoarders!
I tried to explain that we need to throw away toys that are dirty and broken because the Easter Bunny will be bringing new toys, but no one was buying it! After 40 minutes I was able to throw away one little school bus. I sat in the family room arguing with the 3 dogs and lost. I lost to dogs…they can’t even talk. How do you lose a battle to a dog? Well it starts with a meltdown, barking, and crying.
The Big Dogs have been here for just over 7 months, but they still panic if you try to change something. This was the first time I have tried to throw away toys, but we go through the same ordeal if I want to wash their collars or blankets. I feel bad for them. As a rescue it will always be in the back of their mind that they could lose their home. My poor little hoarders! If you swing by the house and wonder why our toy bins are filled with deflated toys or why the couch is covered with Christmas blankets now you know! I don’t even want to talk about the Halloween blanket in the guest room…
P.S. I received a ton of requests for the Broccoli & Mushroom Lasagna recipe. Between running late from work and the “toy bin debacle” I will share the recipe tomorrow! It is in my head and I need to type it out.
