6 Month Update

Day 180 and Every is Still Alive!  We are snowed in today which is just fine with me!  All 3 have been playing in the snow and cuddling on the couch.  I have their favorite pot roast in the oven and am trying for a “relaxing day.” I am taking advantage of the quiet moment and working.  Once that snow plow truck comes up the hill all bets are off!

Our neighbor who doesn’t like Rufus, because of his barking, got a puppy.  Bailey and Riley love the new puppy…Rufus is not sure about it yet which results in more barking! He doesn’t like anything or anyone near the fence so until he realizes that the puppy lives next door he will have a meltdown.  The puppy is pretty loud so at least Rufus won’t be the only one causing a ruckus!

I honestly can’t believe it has been 6 months since I brought the Big Dogs home.  Life was so much easier with just Riley, but it was fate that these two ended up here.  Bailey is the most lovable dog you will ever meet and is the easiest dog I have ever brought home from the shelter.  This silly girl protects the house, loves people, and is my official walking buddy.  Rufus is the most difficult dog so I guess that is why they were a pair!  I am still working with Rufus and his anxiety issues, but he is getting better.  He spends most of his time playing with toys and sleeping.  If only we lived in the country with no people coming near the house this dog would be easy!

Riley takes turns playing favorites with the Big Dogs.  He is always following one of them around and they love him.  This is the first time Riley has lived with a dog that tolerated his “stage 5 clinger” tendencies!  At night Riley doesn’t go to bed until Rufus goes.  I try to take him on outings, but he is hard to sneak out of the house because he always barks for his buddies!

3 Dogs is not easy.  Just when you think you have the house under control all hell breaks loose.  There is dog hair everywhere.  We go through a bottle of windex a week removing nose prints from windows.  I have to sneak downstairs to eat something I don’t want to share.  BUT no one will ever break into this house and I always have 3 buddies to cuddle with!  6 Months Down…the Rest of their Lives to Go!
