We arrived at Grammie and Big Ed’s house a little early so that we could go for a walk and help with the food preparations. I realized while loading the truck that I could not put the food with the Four Legged. Rufus was quite disappointed to see the containers go in the tailgate! The Four Legged are getting better in the truck, but let’s just say I am glad we are only 8 minutes from my parents house! Their neighborhood is nice and flat so anytime we can walk over there we do. Our neighborhood is all hills and if it weren’t for Rufus dragging me up them I am not sure we would walk everyday!
Bailey has yet to meet a cream cheese wrapper that she didn’t love and immediately had to help Grammie stuff celery! The Big Dogs love my parents house because they have carpet so all 3 roll around and act like fools. Rufus had his nose running along the edge of every counter and table so food had to be kept clustered in the center. The Four Legged enjoyed turkey for dinner and then spent the rest of the evening trying to guilt people into sharing. Those faces are killer! Riley needs a “placemat” when he eats and is using an American Flag Beach Towel to be patriotic…(didn’t want you all to think I let the dogs eat on the Flag!)
We played Thanksgiving Bingo which to the Four Legged was just ridiculous, as you can see from their faces on the flag towel, since we had not had pie yet! The Big Dogs enjoyed a small piece of pie, but Riley told Big Ed he better “give him a real piece and don’t forget the whipped cream!”
I know I have said it before, but if you had asked me on Day One if the Rufus and Bailey would be at a family dinner at someone else’s home I would have told you no way! They have worked so hard to learn manners. There are still a few times that I have to remind them they are inside a house, but they have made huge progress in the past five months. We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
Riley is ready to decorate for Santa so I think we will start pulling out the Christmas Tree…
