Pit Bull Awareness Month! Years ago my sister called and wanted recommendations for adopting a four legged. We talked for over an hour about finding a shelter, selecting a dog, bringing them into the house, and how much time and energy a rescue can take.
About 45 minutes after our phone call she called in a panic. It was pouring and she left her car door open while she grabbed the mail. A Pit Bull jumped in the passenger seat and was smiling at her. Since it was raining she decided to take the dog home to figure out a plan. After talking to neighbors and having her checked at a vet she realized that the dog had been abandoned. A family in her neighborhood lost their home to foreclosure and left the dog behind. My sister taped a note to their door with her number in the off chance that they had planned to come back for the dog.
After 30 days and no calls the “Rainy Day Pit Bull” became an official member of the family! Mila has been with my sister for about 5 years and is hilarious! Her facial expressions are one of a kind. She spends most of her time in the swimming pool or destroying squeaker toys. In true Pit Bull fashion she is a lover, a whiner, and the center of attention! She loves to ride in the car and when her Favorite Aunt visits she goes for extra walks and eats all the foods her mom and dad don’t let her have!
Not many would keep a Pit Bull that jumped into their car. Kudos to my sister for giving Mila the home she deserves and kudos to Mila for knowing which car to jump into!
P.S. Mila if you are reading this I will be down after Hurricane Season for Moe’s! Don’t tell your mom!
